Year 2 Reflection

I really enjoyed this year. After completing my foundational knowledge in year 1, I really appreciated the opportunity to expand my experience and learn more about industry practices.

I also appreciated the chance to participate in work experience and attend events such as awards ceremonies, where I could meet professionals in the field. I got to go on two sets of work experiences which changed the way I view sets when drafting for the better. Watching my classmates grow throughout the year too was also really nice. I've been able to meet quite a few DFTV graduates and have kept in touch with some graduates from last year and everyhting I've seen has been really encouraging. Through both main module and Contextual Studies, I have broadened my knowledge of the industry and now feel confident about entering Year 3.

In submitting my portfolio, I have also updated some visuals based on feedback I received during the project. I used Photoshop and referred back to the project brief to make these changes. My favorite project this year was Classic Set Revamp. It was really fun to build on the work of others while creating something new. I also enjoyed learning more about Twinmotion, Unreal, SketchUp, and VR, as they may be useful after university.

Participating in extracurricular activities related to the industry, such as the Pinewood trip and a charity walk that raised money for art department assistants, allowed me to get more insight into the industry I want to get into outside of projects. I was also invited to attend the BFDG Awards by Vectorworks because of my Give us a Confetti Clue project, which I am still really proud about.

Overall, I feel well-prepared for next year and am excited to celebrate the work we all have done together!
