Reflection and Portfolio
I have really enjoyed this first year of the Main Module for DFTV. I think that my skills have improved throughout the year and I am proud of the fact that I can now identify where to improve and where to spend more time. I think that timekeeping was a really big skill that I have improved on and I really enjoyed the mix of creativity and communication, as well as efficiency, that you can develop over Year 1 of this course.
My favourite project this year was probably Location; my favourite design that I made for this year was Period Elements. I have recognised that I really like research and I hope to bring this forward into Year 2. One thing that I’d love to get better at next year is model-making. Luckily, I have signed up for that for next year’s Skills Passport – so I hopefully will be able to see more improvement on that.
After listening to feedback for my portfolio, I have gone back and revised my storyboards for Dreamland as well as rearranging problematic placements of drawings on my tech drawings for pre-Location. I have also taken the time to go back and resolve my model-making for my first project, BBC Three, having improved in my skills since then. Minor tweaks have also been made to scaling on certain visuals.
Overall, I am pleased with how Year 1 has gone. I am excited for Year 2!
